El Arte de Cartier

November 4, 2012

The house of Cartier in Paris, has decamped to Madrid for the ´El Arte de Cartier’ exhibition at the amazing Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum.Cartier has opened the archives for the show, with a treasure trove of exceptional pieces from illustrious owners like the Duchess of Windsor’s panther brooch, the ruby and diamond necklace given to Elizabeth Taylor by Mike Todd, and a tiara belonging to Princess Grace of Monaco, that rub shoulders with Art Deco pieces from the 1920s made in collaboration with Jeanne Toussaint, kindly lent by the Royal families of Spain and Monaco. The retrospective was put together by Jorge Valera, and is based on a visual path around the Cartier pieces and the Museum’s own works of art, putting the close links between the Spanish crown and the French jewelry house firmly into the spotlight.

Turbans are vogue.

June 11, 2012

Fashion accessories have a particular history. Each design, each piece has a form of cultural or religious expression that changed with time. This is what happened to the turban, an accessory that for many people emerged from hindú fashion. Turban is not a new accessory, had a golden age during the sixties and now returns to join the most important runways. What I love about this piece is the versatility; you can combine it with any style, any time. ❤
